Ifor Williams Eventa L Gold

The Eventa L Gold takes the same shell as the standard Eventa L – two horses or three ponies up to 17hh – and adds Ifor Williams’ Gold living fit-out to the front section, turning it into a genuine weekend-away trailer rather than just a horse carrier. Seating for three converts to sleeping for two, and there is a sink, a gas hob, on-board 12V electrics and a 50-litre water tank, enough for an overnight stay at a show without needing a campsite hookup.

This is the model to look at if you are regularly away from home for multi-day events – regional championships, clinics, or shows that run over a weekend – and would rather sleep in the trailer than book accommodation or tow a separate caravan. Compared with building out a base Eventa L yourself, the factory Gold fit-out is finished to a known standard without the risk of a DIY conversion done badly.

Construction is the standard Ifor Williams galvanised-chassis, aluminium-framed build, with the tri-axle option available here too if your typical towing distance justifies the extra stability at speed.

The trade-off against the base Eventa L is straightforward: you are paying for a finished living area whether or not you use it every trip, and the added weight and cabinetry mean less flexibility if your needs change later. With the added complexity of a living conversion, keep a paper trail of the fit-out alongside your standard trailer licensing – a trailer licence disc is required regardless of the living quarters, and having clear documentation of the factory conversion can also matter later for insurance or resale.
