Bockmann Duo

Duo is Bockmann’s more heavy-duty double-horse trailer, built around a 13-ply plywood superstructure for genuine structural rigidity, with flat, easy access via a wide 1800mm tailgate rather than a narrower standard ramp opening. Two separate feed troughs are fitted, letting each horse eat independently without competing over a shared trough on longer journeys.

The 13-ply plywood build is worth explaining rather than assuming it speaks for itself: multiple thin plywood layers bonded together resist warping and flexing better than a single thicker panel, giving the body real torsional stiffness over rough roads – useful on the less-than-perfect surfaces common between South African towns and showgrounds, not just smooth tar. The wide tailgate makes loading and unloading noticeably less fiddly than a narrow ramp, particularly useful for less confident loaders or when you are working alone without a second handler.

Separate feed troughs are a small detail with a real practical benefit: horses that are food-motivated but not comfortable sharing space will settle faster on a long trip with their own trough rather than jostling over one, which translates into a calmer, less stressed arrival.

Duo’s heavier-duty build does not exempt it from the standard South African trailer licence disc requirement, renewed annually like any other trailer.
